What is Myopia & Myopia Managment?
Myopia, commonly known as nearsightedness, is a refractive error in which distant objects appear blurry, while close objects remain clear. This occurs when the eyeball is too long or the cornea is too curved, causing light entering the eye to focus in front of the retina rather than directly on it. As a result, images of distant objects are blurred.

Myopia often begins in childhood and can progressively worsen over time. Managing myopia early can help slow its progression, reducing the risk of developing high myopia, which can lead to serious eye conditions later in life, such as retinal detachment or glaucoma.

In recent years, myopia management has become a focus of care to slow the progression in children, using specialized contact lenses, glasses, or atropine eye drops to reduce the risk of worsening vision.

If left uncorrected, myopia can affect daily activities, like driving or watching TV, and cause discomfort due to constant squinting or eye strain. Regular eye exams are essential for early detection and effective management.
